This is a quick and simple recipe, and is very useful as a food cupboard standby. You can use it for all manner of dishes, including baking, and even for coffee and tea. If you make a huge batch, you can decanter a few ounces in a pretty glass jar, decorate with ribbon and you have a lovely foodie gift!
Ingredients:
- 500g Golden granulated sugar
- 2 Vanilla pods
Method:
In a large, sterilised jar, add the sugar and vanilla pods.
Leave for at least 2 weeks before use, in a cool, dark cupboard to allow the vanilla flavour to infuse into the sugar. If you can’t get hold of golden granulated sugar, you can use white granulated sugar. I tend to use golden sugar as I think it has a richer, more rounded flavour, but there is no need to stress over it, it is the Holiday season after all.
Enjoy, and see you tomorrow
