In honour of the Chinese New Year – and as I like easy recipes which can be adapted for a multiple of other recipes, here is my Spiced Sugar recipe.
500g caster sugar
1 teaspoon each of ground;
Add all the ingredients in a clean jar. Close the lid and shake for a few seconds to mix.
You can add the sugar to your cake recipes, or to your cup of tea or coffee to add a spicy favour. You can also use in pancake batter, cup cakes, on your cereal or hot chocolate. If you need a quick present, such as a house warming gift, or dinner hostess gift, make a batch, decant into a pretty jar, add a ribbon and a hand written tag of your favourite cookie or biscuit recipe.
