- Crush half the hazelnuts with a rolling pin, and then pour all the hazelnuts into a large, shallow baking tray or baking sheet.
- Stir in the almonds, oats, cocoa powder, essence, oil and syrups.
- Bake in a preheated oven, Gas mark 3, for 30 minutes, stirring the granola every 10 minutes to ensure even baking.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool before transferring the granola into an airtight storage jar.
Serve with warm milk as a mid-winter snack or breakfast treat.
