Elle’s Two Nut Chocolate Granola


1 cup whole roasted hazelnuts
1/2 cup flaked almonds
3 cups jumbo rolled oats
2 dessert spoons cocoa powder
1 tsp of chocolate essence
1/4 cup sunflower oil
1/2 cup Golden syrup
1/4 cup Maple syrup


  1. Crush half the hazelnuts with a rolling pin, and then pour all the hazelnuts into a large, shallow baking tray or baking sheet.
  2. Stir in the almonds, oats, cocoa powder, essence, oil and syrups.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven, Gas mark 3, for 30 minutes, stirring the granola every 10 minutes to ensure even baking.
  4. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before transferring the granola into an airtight storage jar.

Serve with warm milk as a mid-winter snack or breakfast treat.
