Have you ever wondered how to make tahini? Well wonder no more! Just 3 ingredients, and you will have about a cup of this marvellous sauce, and what’s more, it’s simple to make, fresher and cheaper than shop brought tahini and it tastes better too. Added bonus, you can use the sauce as a base for other recipes.
- In a heavy based saucepan gently toast the sesame seeds until the turn a pale brown colour. Be careful, as they can easily burn.
- Place the lightly toasted sesame seeds in a blender, along with the oils and blitz until smooth.
- Decant into a jar or small dish and serve
Store the tahini in the fridge. This recipe yields about a cup, and ideally should be used up as soon as possible. I only intend to keep mine for no more than a week, but some say fresh homemade tahini can last for as long as 3 months.
Like any recipe is ever going to last that long in my kitchen! 🙂
