To kick off London Fashion Week, I was lucky enough to get a very sought after ticket for the Retrospective Vintage Fashion show, hosted by Bourne and Hollingsworth. With standing room only, the show more than fulfilled its aim of showcasing the best of fashion past, providing a few hints for fashion future.
Set in the glamorous Bloomsbury Ballroom in London’s Holborn, the audience were treated to an array of one-off pieces from the 1920s to the 1980s. Vintage Modes and Violet’s Box, were some of the providers who showed how vintage fashion has a direct influence on many of the designs shown during this week’s London Fashion parade. One of a Kind, Catherine Walker, Bruce Oldfield, Barbara Hulanicki, Christies’ pieces also glided up and down the catwalk, adding to what was a brilliant retrospective of the history of contemporary fashion.
Below are some of the pieces which particularly caught my eye.
